Imagine a house where your favorite childhood stories come to life! Charlotte has built her web on the front porch, Tom Sawyer got distracted while painting the fence, green eggs and ham are frying on the stove… Come see this unique dollhouse on display at the Dayton Metro Library - it’s a magical house of literature in miniature! The house contains clues to nearly 50 different children’s stories, nursery rhymes and fairy tales. From classics to contemporary favorites, there are clues in every room and in the yard as well. Some are easy to spot, some are trickier. How many can you find? The Storybook Dollhouse is on loan from DML employee Gwen Owen, who spent a year and a half adding the tiny storybook clues to the dollhouse. She made most of the clues by hand from materials like polymer clay, fabric, paper and string. The house is on long term loan to the library. It is currently on display at the Main Library, but will travel to branch locations in the coming months. |
